Charity begins...

We started Stoke Bridge Workshops to benefit our local community; offering classes designed to give all of those who attend a good grounding in a real-life skill that they can then take with them and use.

Our first workshop left the 'apprentice' upholsters full of praise at the way in which Victoria from Lady Norfolk & Lord Rust imparted her knowledge, as well as arming attendees full of information on where to buy tools and supplies. Each and every one of those who attended is now able to traditionally paint and upholster a chair themselves.

Yesterday was Comic Relief's Red Nose Day and, as we like to keep an ear out and our eyes open for things happening in and around our area, we listened to local charity Anglia Care Trust on BBC Radio Suffolk

yesterday morning - they were

talking about funds they'd received from Comic Relief to provide money advice to victims of Domestic abuse. Listen to the interview here: https://soundcloud.com/user-69924679/rnd2019-anglia-care-trust-rot-150319-jw

Both of the above things got us thinking about how we'd like to use our workshops to benefit local charities - keep watching and reading our posts for news on how we're going to be donating a percentage of each workshop's fee to a charity in our community.

To kick off our charitable giving, we'll begin with our Lampshade Making Workshop - WE'RE PLEASED TO ANNOUNCE THAT WE'VE REDUCED THE PRICE to £50 for our 4-hour workshop (we'll contact those who've already booked on), giving a percentage of this workshop to Comic Relief.

Don't lose out - learn how to make your own lampshades and take away a skill that you can then put to use. It's the day before Mothers' Day (Saturday 30th April), so a great present for your mum or, a great opportunity for you to make her a bespoke lampshade as a gift - bring your own fabric and make it a true one-off, unique piece. Book now as places are limited - all of our workshops have size restrictions; it's important to us that all attendees are given enough attention to be able to master each of the skills we have on offer.

And, never forget ... there will be cake!
