About The Event

Through different activities, we’ll explore the beautiful abstract patterns, colours, and details of natural objects by getting up-close with flowers, leaves, feathers, shells, and more.

In this workshop you’ll learn about botanical illustration, and take home a set of your beautiful pictures, prints, and bookmarks to keep or share as gifts.   We’ll work from real natural objects and photos to create an inspiring gallery of prints at the end of our workshop, where the paintings might not always look what they seem! Come prepared with suitable clothes (that you’re not worried about getting paint on). Using pencil drawing, watercolours, and acrylics, there will be a medium to suit everyone.

Suitable for complete beginners as well as those more experienced, and suitable for children aged 10+ (accompanied by an adult). You’re welcome to also bring any of your own natural objects to paint or draw from. You can also bring natural objects of sentimental value if you’d like to create something to give, or adorn your home.

How do tickets work? Your ticket is for either 1 adult or 1 child accompanied by an adult. When filling in your booking form, please enter the adult's details and then, in the appropriate section, please give the name of your accompanying child.

Workshop leader information: Betty Adamou has been a macro-lens botanical photographer (non-commercially) for over 5 years, and spends her spare time understanding the plant world around us, and persuing botanical painting and illustration. She is fascinated by how nature looks under a microscope, and hopes to inspire others in her love for nature, plants, art, and a bit of science!
