About The Event

Using a range of found and prepared surfaces this workshop introduces a wide range of methods to layer, combine and contrast visual material to produce distinctive and intriguing pictures.

There will be demonstrations and examples to introduce methods, as you will explore different ways to use cut, torn and folded techniques to combine very different types of collage materials. 

You will learn how to prepare and arrange different papers to creative varied and unexpected effects, and how to add other drawing and painting effects if you wish.

Your tutor will provide a range of equipment, media and collage papers as outlined below, but please feel free

to bring some of your own. It will help you direct and develop the tasks to your own interests.

Materials List to bring if you have them, or have a particular interest:

Resource images and papers to work with*

Plain paper (cartridge will be fine but any type of art paper can be used as an option)

Craft knife or scalpel

Cutting mat

Scissors

glue sticks

Graphite Pencil and/or pens (ball point pens and even correction pens can be useful)

Drawing Pens /felt marker pens (water based or spirit-based pens)

*TYPES OF PAPERS AND IMAGES

Any type of paper material can be used including:

Magazines, newspapers, maps, books, old envelopes, postcards, old photographs, posters, brown wrapping paper, wallpaper, or any other printed matter

Other Optional extras or useful Additions if you wish to bring or have a particular interest:

Watercolour and/or Gouache paints

Brushes: soft watercolour type - Sable or synthetic, or a mix

Palette for mixing

Steve will provide a range of papers and images, and some equipment and media. This is included in the price so don't worry about not having particular items.

He will provide:

All the items above including a range of Papers and images, Pritt sticks, pens and pencils, scissors, craft knives, cutting mats, and an eraser, sharpener, masking tape, coloured papers, waste papers for gluing, watercolour paints and brushes to use.
